Our goal Your experience A hassle-free informative plunge into the history and culture for France – a Spring Break trip designed specifically for YOU - university faculty, staff, and spouses. For more than 30 years Chez Vous Normandy has been offering study abroad programs and educational trips, such as “Spring Fling,” to Christian universities and schools, to home school groups, and to churches. We take care of all the “hassle,” while you absorb the history and richness of French life. Spring Fling programs connect you to the rich history, culture, and stunning sites of France, along with the spiritual heritage bequeathed to us through the French Reformation. Besides a passion for French history and culture, Chez Vous Normandy shares with you the spiritual needs and opportunities in France today, preparing you and your students for however God might lead in future service to the French church. Also! You will learn the cultural insights you need for stress-free interactions with real French people! No more awkward and mystifying encounters, or embarrassing moments. Find below an overview of the two “Spring Fling” programs currently available – ("Croissant" and "Baguette") - each trip has some common core experiences, but with enough differences between them to make each a worthwhile adventure! (And can be enjoyed in either order!) Sites in Common Both Spring Fling programs "Croissant" and "Baguette" include the following . . . . . . however, each trip follows different educational themes which often varies the experience at each site. Mont St. Michel The mystery and grandeur of the Middle Ages come alive on this mountain, marking the epic battle and ultimate victory by Michael the Archangel over Lucifer. -D-Day- Pegasus Bridge Where the British stunned German defenders after landing nearby in gliders, reinforcing the advancement of other Allied troops. -Paris- Sacre Cœur/Montmartre Visit the center of artistic inspiration from the 19th century, inspiring Van Gogh and Picasso. Market An upscale seaside town where we can browse a typical weekly market. -Paris- Versailles -Paris- Arc De Triomphe Exploring the historic palace and gardens that housed French monarchs leading up to the French Revolution. A symbol of France’s political history from Napoleon I to the Revolution, and a place to honor French soldiers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. -D-Day- American Cemetery -Paris- Notre Dame -Paris- Tour Eiffel Where thousands of our countrymen lie at rest after sacrificing all for our freedom. A reminder of Paris’ history from the Norman Conquest to the French Revolution and a representation of the evolution of Christianity in France. Witness the magnificent structure that has remained an icon of France’s capital city for over one hundred years. -D-Day- Omaha Beach The D-Day landing spot where intense fighting took the lives of more than 2,000 Allied soldiers. -Paris- Louvre From palace to museum, explore art from around the world dating back thousands of years. Discover the origins for the term “museum” … Spring Fling "Croissant" Sites . . . . . . include the following (along with the "common" sites above) Honfleur Beautiful and historic coastal village. This ancient harbor town at the mouth of the Seine is filled with quaint shops and artist ateliers. -D-Day- Arromanches Harbor On Gold Beach, with remnants of the artificial harbor that played a critical role in the Battle of Normandy following D-Day -Paris- Champs Elysee Shopping Enjoy a walk down the historic avenue lined with shops to please any taste. William the Conqueror's Castle -D-Day- Batterie de Longues -Paris- A Roman Medieval Walk In his capital city during the 1000's we can still visit William the Conqueror's castle, tomb, and more. The largest German Gun Battery on the Normandy Coast, a formidable threat to D-Day landings on both Gold and Omaha beaches Saint Chapelle, Cluny Museum, Roman Ruins, and the Latin Quarter Roman Ruins . . . of the Roman capital that governed our region . . . ruins as well as artifacts that include the first evidence of Christianity’s arrival in Normandy! -D-Day- Pointe du Hoc Where Army Rangers had to scale sheer cliffs on D-Day to neutralize a German battery threatening both Omaha and Utah beaches -Paris- Spiritual Heritage Walk Through the French Reformation of the 1500’s (giving birth also to the Louvre), along with Sacré Cœur. -D-Day- Memorial Museum World famous for its rich presentation of artifacts and information surrounding the seismic events of D-Day and World War II. Spring Fling "Baguette" Sites . . . . . . include the following (along with the "common" sites above) Rouen The first city ceded to the Vikings in the 900's, and where Joan of Arc would be burned at the stake in the 1400's. Narrow cobble-stone streets and the grand Cathedrale that would inspire Claude Monet. A Fromagerie Normand cows produce cheeses famous the world over - we'll see how that happens! -D-Day- Grand Bunker Discovering the six-story bunker that served as a German Command Post over Sward Beach -D-Day- Utah Beach Museum Marking the exact site of the westernmost landings by American troops on D-Day -D-Day- St. Mere Eglise The first town in Normandy liberated on D-Day, by the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division -Paris- Conciergerie From construction by the first king of France, to a holding cell for a famous queen from the French Revolution… -Paris-Orangerie Originally designed by Monet himself, this museum in the Tuileries Garden exhibits art from famous artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. -Paris- Napoleon's Tomb The final resting place of the exiled emperor, whose reign in France created many of the institutions still in place there today. -Paris- Musée d'Orsay A train station turned museum, visit the place housing sculpture and painting masterpieces.   • Chez Vous Semester | Chez Vous Normandy

    Chez Vous Semester Your Instant French Life . . . . . . for rapid immersion into French culture . . . Fall or Spring, the semester program of Chez Vous Normandy offers full-time enrollment in French at the “Université de Caen,” along with a ministry internship at the Christian Study Center itself. Credits & Experience Students gain 15-18 hours of French credits, adapted by UCaen to each student’s current French fluency. Students serve as "mission-interns" for around 4-5 hours per week, providing valuable help to a local church or with Chez Vous Normandy programs. Students gain experience working in a cross-cultural context and deepening their use of French, while living out their faith through fellowship and service to others. Franceville! Your small-town home on the Normandy coast just 2½ hours from Paris and 20 minutes from Caen. Cafés, shops, crêperies, bakery, butcher and grocer provide many opportunities to connect with French people and culture.
